Overview

Automatic tramp-iron protection over your belt

Over Band Magnetic Separators (OBMS) remove iron contamination from material flowing over a flat or angled conveyor belt — recommended where the ferrous pieces are large or frequent. The compact, fully-housed separator self-clears: ferrous is attracted as it passes through the magnetic zone, then carried away by the unit’s own rotating belt into a non-magnetic discharge area, automatically and continuously — no manual cleaning of the magnet face.

Over Band Magnetic Separator — common questions

How is it different from a suspension magnet?

A suspension magnet is manually cleaned and best for occasional tramp iron; an over-band separator has its own belt that continuously sweeps captured iron away — ideal for high or frequent contamination without stopping the line.

Electromagnetic or permanent magnet — which do I need?

Permanent units are maintenance-free and great for moderate burden depths; electromagnetic units deliver deeper, stronger fields for thick burdens or fast belts. We’ll advise based on your belt width, burden depth and material.

Where on the conveyor should it go?

It can be mounted across (perpendicular to) the belt at the discharge, or inline above the belt. We help position it for the best capture given your layout and belt speed.

How do you size it?
