Suspension Magnet
A permanent magnet suspended over a belt or roller conveyor that traps large free ferrous particles before they reach your machinery — often sited ahead of a metal detector to protect crushers, grinders and material-handling equipment.
Overview
The backbone of continuous process protection
Suspension magnets are the backbone of the continuous process industry. The permanent magnet is suspended over a conveyor line to remove iron impurities mixed with product moving on the belt, and can equally serve any other material-feeding system to avoid damage to crushers, grinders and other material-handling equipment. Suspended over belt or roller conveyors prior to a metal detector, it traps all the free large ferrous particles that could otherwise damage in-process machinery. Where required, it can be built in a self-cleaning design — the Over Band Magnetic Separator.

The magnet is sized to the material depth and belt speed of the conveyor. Suspension magnets can also be used in conjunction with a magnetic pulley for a two-stage capture.
Sized to the belt width and burden depth of the installation. Specifications are subject to change with continuous design improvement — contact us for a certified drawing and data sheet for your duty.

Benefits
Why operators rely on a suspension magnet
- Removes iron impurities mixed with product moving on the conveyor belt.
- Protects machinery — avoids damage to crushers, grinders and material-handling equipment.
- Permanent magnet — no power needed for the magnetic circuit.
- Captures large free ferrous particles that could damage in-process machinery.
- Suspended over belt or roller conveyors to suit your line.
- Sited prior to a metal detector to remove tramp iron ahead of detection.
- Self-cleaning option available as an Over Band Magnetic Separator.
- Works on any feeding system, not just conveyors, to safeguard downstream equipment.
