Wet Drum Magnetic Separators

A stationary permanent magnet inside a freely rotating stainless-steel 304 shell that removes ferrous particles from non-ferrous powders and crystals — operating at low cost with no electricity, even during power failures.

Permanent magnet Low operating cost Works in power cuts

Overview

Conveniently removes ferrous from powders & crystals

The wet drum magnetic separator conveniently removes ferrous particles from non-ferrous powders and crystals, making it ideal for food, fertilizer, plastic, pharmaceutical, chemical and continuous-process plants. It gives maximum protection to crushers, grinders, pulverizers and allied equipment, helps in mining and ore-dressing, and eliminates fire hazards and explosions where explosive materials are handled — saving time, labour and money by reducing breakdowns and improving quality, with a very short payback.

Features & benefits

Why operators choose the wet drum separator

  • Removes ferrous from non-ferrous powders and crystals conveniently.
  • Protects machinery — maximum protection for crushers, grinders and pulverizers.
  • Eliminates fire & explosion hazards in plants handling explosive materials.
  • Short payback — saves time, labour and money and improves quality.
  • Low operating cost — permanent magnets need no rectifier or electricity to run.
  • Works during power failures since no electricity is used to operate it.
  • Oriented permanent magnets assembled to give alternate polarity across the circumference.
  • Stainless-steel 304 shell rotates freely around the stationary magnet.
Wet drum magnetic separator working principle

Working principle

A stagnant magnet, a free-spinning shell

Only one side of the magnetic drum is magnetized; the other side is not. The stainless-steel 304 shell that surrounds the magnet rotates freely while the magnet itself stays stagnant. Ferrous particles attracted to the magnet are carried round and collected separately from the clean material.

Inside, a number of oriented, isotropic permanent magnets are assembled to give alternate polarity across the circumference, dependent on the application. Because no rectifier or electricity is used to operate the machine, it runs at low cost — and keeps working even during power failures.

FAQs

Wet Drum Magnetic Separators — common questions

How does the wet drum separator work?
Only one side of the drum is magnetized. The stainless-steel 304 shell rotates freely around a stationary magnet; ferrous particles attracted to the magnet are carried round and collected separately, leaving the non-ferrous powder or crystals clean.
Does it need electricity to run?
No rectifier or electricity is used to operate the magnet, so it runs at low cost and keeps working even during power failures.
What capacity and sizes are available?
The drums are suitable for capacities up to 2 tonnes per hour and can be given on short deliveries. Drum diameters vary from 300 mm to 600 mm with lengths up to 1500 mm. Final size and capacity are decided from your material, type of separation and the ferrous to be removed.
Which industries is it suited to?
It is ideal for food, fertilizer, plastic, pharmaceutical, chemical and continuous-process plants, and is also used in ceramics, glass and mining/ore-dressing — separating iron particles from granules and powder.
